Responsibility of maintaining and keeping clear over 23 miles of roads. In addition, the Road Department is responsible for grounds maintenance of all Township properties including three cemeteries and oversees all funeral services at the cemeteries.
Handles all of the zoning and building issues in the Township, including within the City of Huron. We are a State of Ohio certified department for both residential and commercial / industrial projects and contracts with seven other political subdivisions within Erie County.
Huron Township has 24 hour coverage supplied by the Erie County Sheriff’s Department (ECSD) and, in cooperation with BGSU-Firelands Campus, contracts for additional coverage during peak activity period.
Huron Township contracts with the City of Huron for both fire and EMS coverage and has done so since 1969.
