Mission Statement

“To give our citizens and visitors to the Township the best government, atmosphere, and safest environment possible within our tax dollars”

Road Department

Responsibility of maintaining and keeping clear over 23 miles of roads. In addition, the Road Department is responsible for grounds maintenance of all Township properties including three cemeteries and oversees all funeral services at the cemeteries.

Building Department

Handles all of the zoning and building issues in the Township, including within the City of Huron. We are a State of Ohio certified department for both residential and commercial / industrial projects and contracts with seven other political subdivisions within Erie County.

Law Enforcement

Huron Township has 24 hour coverage supplied by the Erie County Sheriff’s Department (ECSD) and, in cooperation with BGSU-Firelands Campus, contracts for additional coverage during peak activity period.

Fire and EMS Services

Huron Township contracts with the City of Huron for both fire and EMS coverage and has done so since 1969.

NOTICES

  • Huron Township residence can take their lawn clipping and brush to the Barnes Compost site for free.

LEGAL NOTICES

  • The Trustees meeting dates will continue to be the first (1st) and third (3rd) Mondays of every month at 5:00PM., with Special Meetings scheduled on every Thursday at 3:45 PM., as needed and as called by the Chairman.
  • We will receive sealed bids for the LEASE of approximately 22.98 acres of farmland located immediately behind the Huron Township Complex, 1820 Bogart Rd., Huron, OH  44839.  Bids will be accepted until 2pm., on December 5, 2022 at the office of the Township Trustees, 1820 Bogart Rd., Huron, OH.  Call 419-433-2755 or stop at the office Monday thru Friday 7am to 3pm with questions or to pick-up the packet.  Bids will be opened at 5pm on Dec. 5th at the Trustees regular meeting.
  • The Trustees will be having to special meeting to conduct end of the year business.  These meetings will be Dec 2nd and Dec 9th at 9am.
