The health and safety of our employees and residents is our primary concern. Keeping with the Governor of Ohio and the CDC Huron Township Buildings are not open to the public. Road Department

Responsibility of maintaining and keeping clear over 23 miles of roads. In addition, the Road Department is responsible for grounds maintenance of all Township properties including three cemeteries and oversees all funeral services at the cemeteries.

Building Department

Handles all of the zoning and building issues in the Township, including within the City of Huron. We are a State of Ohio certified department for both residential and commercial / industrial projects and contracts with seven other political subdivisions within Erie County.

Law Enforcement

Huron Township has 24 hour coverage supplied by the Erie County Sheriff’s Department (ECSD) and, in cooperation with BGSU-Firelands Campus, contracts for additional coverage during peak activity period.

Fire and EMS Services

Huron Township contracts with the City of Huron for both fire and EMS coverage and has done so since 1969.

NOTICES

  • Huron Township residence can take their lawn clipping and brush to the Barnes Compost site for free.
  • Insulation Inspection is A required inspection, contact 419-433-2755 to schedule.

  • The Trustees meeting dates will continue to be the first (1st) and third (3rd) Mondays of every month at 6:30PM., with Special Meetings scheduled on every Thursday at 3:15PM., as needed and as called by the Chairman.
